I was just 12 years old when I first was able to see my first REAL band up close rehearsing songs for one of their upcoming shows, that band was the Twinkeyz and the year was 1978.Up until that point I hadn't seen too many musicians ,except maybe on Don Kirschner's Rock Concert on television. The band was a new sound to my ears, because until then I hadn't heard that much "Underground" or "Alternative"styled music and would have never thought for one minute that maybe I could do what they do and actually sell some records and play live shows myself.I was more into bands like,The Who.who were untouchable as musicians then and for "Live" music I had only been exposed to your "run of the mill" band that would come to your school back then and play some songs at lunchtime in the Quad area.I was turned onto alot of new music back then because of the Twinkeyz and other bands through them.Bands that I would have never heard of otherwise.I was started down my path in"Rock" music and later as a musician because of the Twinkeyz.I inherited one the drummers for the Twinkeyz drumkit's.It was later when the Twinkeyz started to disolve around 1980 their last drummer had pawned his drums and could not get them back for lack of money.So.... I had my weekly allowance saved up to a tidy sum,and that ended up being just enough to get the drums out of pawn. The total was $66.78 ,and from that time on I have been a drummer. It set everything in motion.Being in the right place at the right time is really what did it,but also maybe a little on the "FATE" side as well.Since 1980 I have played with numerous bands and recorded tons of music, but I never forgot how I got to that place.I am thankful for the experience and knowledge gained and also for the music given, and I thank the Twinkeyz for everything.
